Events
You should visit Menorca in summer. During summer Menorca celebrates some traditional fiestas . In Ciutadella they have the Festes de Sant Joan. The festivities are held for 3 days. On the 1st of this festival a random local who is picked to do that, carries a sheep on his shoulders and just walks in the city. You may see him just outside of your hotel! On the 2nd day, people ride horses and just parade through the city. You may also see them outside from your hotel. The 3rd and last day of the festivities is for men only. What I mean is that it is competitive, it involves horses and riders must spear a ring with a lance while galloping with the horse at speed.
Towns you can visit
The two biggest towns in Menorca are Ciutadella and Moa. Ciutadella was the capital before Mao becomes because of its harbor, where it can welcome tourists better than the old capital. Other towns you can visit are Ferreries, Es Mercadal, Es Migjorn Gran, Alaior, Cla en Porter, Es Castell where there is a castle, Sant Lluis, Fornells where you can taste the famous lobster soup, Llucmassanes, Sant Climent.
Language
The mother tongue of Menorcans is Catalan, an idiom of Spanish, but you may also communicate in official Spanish as they are being taught in school as their second language. Apart from this, a slight difference with pure Catalan is the use of the article ‘’the’’, as they use ‘es’ and ‘sa’ for masculine and feminine respectively. Cataluña mostly uses ‘’el’’ and ‘’la’’ . Their idiom shares this with some Sardinian idioms. But in general you won’t have a problem communicating, if you can speak some Spanish that is.car hire menorca
